New Orleans was a soggy ,cold mess for Mardi Gras 2014.bUT THAT DIDN'T STOP THE PARADES FROM ROLLING NOR THE SPECTATORS FROM COMING OUT.
ZULU Parade started out in the rain and continued to Orleans Avenue and Broad where it completed its Mardi Gras ride. My son and my nephew were out in the rain and cold on Orleans and Claiborne under the bridge. They caught so many beads and coconuts and unique throws that it was unbelievable. My dinning room table was covered with ZULU throws. I have been going to Mardi Gras parades since I was a little girl and I have never been lucky in catching throws from the parades. As a very young child, we would go on Canal Street to watch REX and we always left emptied handed.
NOW FIFTY YEARS LATER I HAVE MORE BEADS , COCONUTS THAT I KNOW WHAT TO DO WITH. IF YOU WAIT LONG ENOUGH, GOD WILL BLESS YOU WITH THE UNEXPECTED!
